What’s inside:

This article discusses the current weather conditions across various states in India, including Bihar and Delhi-NCR, and the impact of cold waves and pollution.

This December, the weather is changing in Bihar. We are seeing dense fog in the mornings, chilly days, and very cold nights. The Meteorological Department has warned that the next few days will be crucial, with possibilities of heavy rain and even snowfall in some hilly regions. This shift in weather is due to a Western Disturbance that started affecting us from December 17.

In Delhi and nearby areas, the situation is quite serious. Mornings and nights are filled with thick fog, and cold winds from the mountains are making temperatures drop below normal. The air quality is also suffering, with many areas recording very poor air quality, leading to health issues for people, especially those with breathing problems.

The cold wave will not just affect Delhi but also parts of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. In these states, we can expect the minimum temperatures to fall by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius. This could lead to disruptions in road and rail transport due to foggy conditions, particularly in rural areas where farmers are worried about frost affecting their crops.

In the hilly regions, a new western disturbance is on its way, expected to bring snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. While this will not directly impact the plains too much, it will make the cold feel even stronger in those areas. So, be prepared for a colder winter ahead.

Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department expects temperatures to drop further in the coming week. This means we might see more dense fog and colder days. After December 22, a cold wave warning has been issued for many states including Bihar, so residents are advised to take precautions against the cold.

Summary:

  • Weather in Bihar is changing with fog, cold days, and nights.

  • Delhi is facing cold winds and poor air quality.

  • Cold wave expected in multiple northern states.

  • Hilly regions might see snowfall from the new western disturbance.

  • Temperatures are set to drop further next week with a cold wave warning.
