This article discusses the issues with illegal meat selling in Areraj, East Champaran, and the health risks involved.

In Areraj Nagar Panchayat, located in East Champaran district, residents are facing serious health risks due to the unchecked selling of meat. Shopkeepers are openly selling mutton and chicken along the main roads without any regulation, while the local administration seems to be ignoring the problem.

The situation has angered many locals, especially since the court has already placed restrictions on selling meat in the open. Despite these orders, the authorities, including the Nagar Panchayat and the Food Department, have not taken any action against the illegal meat shops that have popped up everywhere.

These roadside meat shops, which are often dirty and swarming with flies, pose a real danger to public health. Experts warn that consuming meat sold in such conditions can lead to serious health issues like food poisoning and liver diseases, especially due to contamination from dust and insects.

According to hygiene standards, meat shops must have proper licenses and maintain cleanliness, including having meat displayed in glass cases. Unfortunately, none of these rules are being followed in Areraj, and the local administration has not enforced any penalties on the shopkeepers.

The Executive Officer of the Nagar Panchayat has acknowledged the problem and stated that selling meat in the open is not allowed. He has promised that action will be taken against the violators soon, and heavy fines will be imposed to ensure compliance with health standards.

Summary:

  • Illegal meat selling is rampant in Areraj, East Champaran.

  • Local authorities are not enforcing existing regulations.

  • Health risks from roadside meat shops are significant.

  • Current hygiene standards are being completely ignored.

  • Action against violators is promised by local officials.
