A train was attacked with stones and gunfire near Ara, leading to a police case against unknown assailants linked to illegal liquor trade.

On Saturday night, there was a scary incident on the Seemanchal Express train near Ara, where some criminals threw stones and fired shots. This happened between the 40th bridge and Jamira halt on the Delhi-Hawra main railway line.

Reports say that the attackers fired at least three rounds, breaking the glass of a general coach. Fortunately, no passengers were reported injured, but the train had to stop for about 25 minutes due to the chaos caused by the firing and stone-pelting.

The escort party on the train alerted the police, including the RPF and GRP, who arrived promptly to investigate the situation. They found three empty cartridges at the scene, which added to the seriousness of the incident.

It seems the attackers were trying to disrupt the train’s journey, as they pulled the chain to stop it. When the escort party flashed their torches, the criminals responded by throwing stones and firing shots, creating panic among the passengers.

Following the incident, an FIR was filed against ten unknown assailants based on the statement of a soldier from the escort party. The police are actively investigating the matter, especially since it appears linked to illegal liquor operations.
