This article covers a significant theft of valuable goods from a parcel service of Indian Railways, causing concern among officials.
A recent incident has raised serious concerns about the security of Indian Railways’ parcel services. Valuable items worth over Rs 5 lakh vanished from the Tatanagar-Thaw Express. These items belonged to Dhananjay Kumar, the elder brother of Bihar’s Public Health Engineering Minister, Sanjay Singh. This high-profile case has left railway officials quite anxious.
The stolen goods were part of a shipment of leather items booked from Tatanagar to Hajipur. Dhananjay Kumar had sent 12 cartons of leather goods valued at Rs 5,32,751 on December 23. The train was supposed to deliver these items, but even after four days, there was no sign of the missing parcel.
Upon learning about the missing goods, Minister Sanjay Singh expressed his frustration over the railway’s inadequate security. His private secretary has written to the Railway Minister, urging quick action to find the missing cartons. The complaint has also been shared with the East Central Railway Headquarters, putting more pressure on railway officials to resolve this matter.
According to initial reports, other parcels on the same train were loaded at different stations. When the train reached Hajipur, the staff from the showroom found the parcel bogie almost empty. After waiting for two days without receiving their goods, they officially lodged a complaint on December 25.
The railway authorities are now investigating the situation to determine if the items went missing during transit or if there was any collusion involved in the theft. They are reviewing CCTV footage from various stations along the route to identify any suspects connected to this case.
