Bihar’s Education Minister Sunil Kumar recently held a press conference to share important updates about the education department. He expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his strong commitment to developing education in the state. The government has allocated over ₹70,000 crore for education in the budget for 2025-26, marking a significant milestone for Bihar.
The focus now is on improving the quality of education, with a special emphasis on research and skill development. Sunil Kumar mentioned that the government aims to establish model schools in every block and is also modernizing degree colleges and other educational institutions to ensure they meet current technological standards.
There has been a noticeable increase in the number of teachers, with more than 2,27,000 teachers and headmasters now in the state. The government is also planning further recruitment under the TRE-4 scheme. Additionally, the scholarship program has made direct payments to students’ accounts to support their education.
The government is working hard to ensure that students receive their textbooks and school kits on time. So far, over 1 crore children have received their textbooks. There is also a strong focus on improving higher education, as some universities faced delays in their sessions, which are now being addressed.
Sunil Kumar highlighted that the results for matriculation and intermediate exams have improved. He assured that strict action will be taken against any negligence by education personnel. The government is committed to building a better Bihar and fulfilling the goals outlined in the ‘Saat Nishchay-3’ initiative.
