This article shares news about a new discount scheme for online railway ticket bookings in India.

The Railway Ministry has announced a nice surprise for passengers this New Year. Starting from January 14, 2026, travelers can enjoy a discount on online bookings of unreserved tickets. This discount will be available for six months and can be accessed through the official ‘RailOne’ app.

This new scheme offers a 3% reduction in ticket prices for those who book via the app. The Railway Board has already instructed the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) to update the necessary software to support this offer. This aims to make travel more affordable for everyone.

The best part is that passengers can use any digital payment method to get this discount. Whether you pay through UPI, credit card, debit card, or net banking, you’ll receive the same benefit. This move is expected to encourage more people to book tickets online instead of using traditional methods.

For users of the ‘R-Wallet’ option in the Railvan app, there’s even better news. They will still get a 3% cashback on payments, which combined with the new discount means they could save a total of 6% on their tickets. This is a significant saving for regular travelers.

To take advantage of these offers, passengers need to download the Railvan app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After registration and OTP verification, they can not only book discounted tickets but also check live train statuses and lodge complaints easily.
