This article shares updates about the changes in school timings and operations in Patna due to severe cold weather affecting children’s health.

In Patna, the weather is extremely cold, with icy winds and dense fog making life difficult for everyone. The local government is taking steps to ensure children’s safety during this chilly season. Starting January 3, schools in Patna will have a new schedule to protect younger students.

The District Magistrate of Patna, Chandrashekhar Singh, has ordered that all educational activities for students up to class 5 will be completely suspended until January 5. This includes all government and private schools, as well as pre-schools and Anganwadi centres. This decision comes as the cold weather poses a risk to children’s health, potentially causing illnesses like coughs and colds.

For older students in class 6 and above, schools will remain open, but their timings will change. Classes will now be held from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. However, this does not apply to special classes for students preparing for board exams, which can still occur at different times. The aim is to help students avoid the worst of the cold.

The District Magistrate has instructed all schools to follow these new timings strictly. If any school fails to comply, they may face legal action. This change is an extension of a previous order aimed at addressing the cold weather’s impact on students.

Officials are keeping a close watch on the weather and will make further decisions based on updates from the Meteorological Department. Parents are also encouraged to take precautions to keep their children warm during this cold spell.

  • Classes for students in class 6 and above will be from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
