Bihar Residents Demand Action Against Land Mafia’s Illegal Construction on Bettiah-Areraj Main Road Near Hardiya Joda Bridge

A serious issue has emerged in Bihar where the land mafia is illegally constructing walls on a government road near the Hardiya Joda bridge on the Bettiah-Areraj main road. This area falls under the jurisdiction of the Bettiah Mufsil police station. Locals say that the mafia is taking over a road that should be 15 to 40 feet wide, as per government records.

The illegal activities are not just blocking the road but also posing a threat to nearby farmers’ private lands. Two local farmers, Prahlad Mukhiya and Deepak Kumar, have formally complained to the police, seeking justice. They faced threats from the land mafia when they opposed the encroachment, which has raised serious concerns in the community.

This main road is vital for farmers, as it connects them to their fields. Despite complaints and evidence of the ongoing illegal construction, authorities have not taken effective action. Even when officials visited the site, the land mafia resumed construction work shortly after, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.

Local residents have expressed their frustration, stating that the police have been inactive for several days, allowing the land mafia to operate freely. This has left many people feeling scared and helpless. A local resident highlighted that the administration needs to take immediate action to protect their lands and roads from these illegal encroachments.

A local minister mentioned that there was a similar attempt to grab this land two years ago, which was successfully stopped. The minister emphasized that this land is officially marked as a road, yet the land mafia continues its attempts to take it over forcibly. Immediate attention from the authorities is crucial to resolve this issue.
