Patna Junction to Undergo Rs 95 Crore Redevelopment, Modernizing Bihar’s Rail Infrastructure for Future Needs

The government has announced a major upgrade for Patna Junction, which is the main railway station in Patna, Bihar. This development aims to make the station modern and efficient, similar to the advanced terminals in Mumbai. The project will cost around Rs 95 crore and is expected to significantly improve the railway services in the region.

A key feature of this redevelopment is the construction of five new underground platforms. This will make it easier for passengers to board and alight from trains. Additionally, to tackle space issues on the Patna to Patna City route, an extra line will be added that can be used in both directions, ensuring smoother train movement and reducing delays.

Passengers will benefit from these changes as they will experience better services and more trains. The work at Patna Junction is part of a larger plan to enhance railway infrastructure across the state. The aim is to complete these upgrades by mid-2028, allowing for quicker and safer travel across Bihar.

There are additional improvements planned, including the removal of old tracks and the addition of new lines to increase capacity. The Railway Board has also approved Rs 17 thousand crore for doubling the capacity of key railway lines in the area, which will strengthen Bihar’s position on the national rail map.
