The Bihar government is launching ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ at bus depots to provide affordable and clean food for travelers.

Bihar is making a significant change to improve the experience of travelers at bus depots. The government has decided to start ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ in 19 major bus depots across the state. This initiative aims to provide better food options and facilities for the common people.

Transport Minister Shravan Kumar has recently visited several bus depots and was frustrated by the mismanagement and poor quality of food available. He emphasized that passengers deserve better facilities rather than mere mercy. This led to the decision to set up kitchens that will serve hygienic and nutritious meals.

With the introduction of ‘Didi’s Kitchen’, travelers will now find affordable and clean food options at the bus depots. This change is not just for the passengers; it will also benefit drivers and conductors who work hard on the roads. The initiative is set to roll out soon, bringing a fresh change to the bus depots.

This program will be managed by women from self-help groups, supporting both employment and women empowerment. The kitchens will provide a reliable source of income for these women while improving the overall quality of services at the bus depots.

In the first phase, these kitchens will open at 19 bus depots from Bankipur to Saharsa. This successful model, previously implemented in hospitals and government offices, is now being adapted for road travelers, making bus depots more than just a stop for journeys.
