This article shares updates about the upcoming Tiliya-Koderma rail project in Bihar and Jharkhand, expected to enhance connectivity and boost the local economy.
The long-awaited Tiliya-Koderma railway project is set to connect southern Bihar with northern Jharkhand. After being under construction for the last ten years, it’s expected to be fully operational by 2026.
This railway line, which is about 65 kilometers long, is now in its final stages of construction. It aims to make travel easier for passengers and significantly change the local economy and industry.
Once the project is complete, it will reduce travel time for passengers going from Rajgir and Nawada to Ranchi. Currently, travelers have to take longer routes through Gaya or Kiul, but this new line will offer a more direct option.
Key features of the project include the construction of four modern tunnels and seven large bridges. The estimated cost is around 1625.87 crore rupees, with a budget allocation of 275 crore rupees received in the last budget.
Looking ahead, the railway authorities aim to open the entire 65-kilometer stretch by March 2026, and even if there are delays, it should start operations by the end of that year. This railway will also help local businesses transport goods more efficiently to markets in Jharkhand and Bengal.
