This article shares news about a road survey in Bihar aimed at improving rural connectivity through road widening.

The Bihar government is working on a new app to survey rural roads. This survey will help identify which roads need widening and is expected to be finished by the end of January. The focus is on roads that are either past their maintenance period or will be soon.

According to officials, the number of roads needing maintenance will reach 5,887 by 2026-27. The plan includes reconstructing and upgrading about 11,942 kilometers of roads. The Rural Works Minister mentioned that many current roads are only 3.75 meters wide, but they will be expanded to around 5.5 meters to handle more traffic.

This improvement will greatly benefit people living in rural areas. Better roads will ease transportation and connect communities to important services like hospitals and schools. The survey will help prioritize which roads to work on first.

In addition to the road widening, there are also plans for constructing alternative routes and bypasses. So far, 65 projects worth Rs 356.4 crore have been approved, with some construction already underway on 13 of these schemes.

The Rural Works Department is committed to enhancing the rural economy. With many road projects already approved and construction starting soon, residents can expect better and safer travel in the near future.
