Bihar government has introduced a new scheme for cashless treatment for road accident victims.

Bihar has announced a big change in how road accident victims will get treatment. If someone gets hurt in an accident, they won’t have to worry about paying for their treatment. The government will either take care of the treatment for a week or give a one-time help of Rs 1.5 lakh. This was shared by Transport Minister Shravan Kumar recently.

In a bid to reduce road accidents, the government is focusing on six districts where accidents happen the most. These districts are Patna, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, Saran, Motihari, and Gaya. A special campaign will be launched in these areas aiming for “Zero Accident”. Meetings will be held between different departments to ensure everyone does their part.

To ensure quick help for accident victims, the ambulance service is also being improved. The plan is to connect 2200 ambulances to the emergency number 102, increasing the total from 1500 to 3700. This means that help will arrive faster and treatment can start right away, ideally within the first hour after the accident.

There are some important rules to follow under this new scheme. The accident must happen on the road, and the injured must go to a government or approved private hospital within seven days. The hospital will report the accident details through a government system, and the government will pay the hospital directly for treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Notably, anyone who takes an injured person to the hospital and informs the authorities will receive Rs 25,000 as a reward. This initiative aims to encourage people to help accident victims without fear. Additionally, the government is also focusing on women empowerment by hiring women drivers and conductors for pink buses in several districts.

Summary:

  • Bihar introduces cashless treatment for road accident victims.

  • Victims can get treatment for a week or Rs 1.5 lakh support.

  • Six districts identified for special accident reduction campaigns.

  • Ambulance services to be improved for quick response.

  • Rewards for those who help transport injured to hospitals.
