Chief Secretary reviews three important projects in Bihar that are crucial for agriculture and connectivity.
In Patna, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit held a meeting today to check the progress of three key projects in Bihar: North Koel Reservoir, Mandai Weir, and the Tajpur-Bakhtiyarpur Greenfield Path. He emphasized that these projects are not just about building infrastructure but are essential for agriculture and improving connections in the state.
During the review, the Chief Secretary discussed the North Koel Reservoir Project, which is vital for farmers in Gaya and Aurangabad districts, especially during droughts. The District Magistrate of Gaya assured that significant progress will be made by January 28. The Chief Secretary instructed to plan the canal network so that it supports irrigation for both Kharif and Rabi crops, and ordered an increase in workforce where work is slow.
Regarding the Mandai Weir Project, the Chief Secretary expressed concern over its slow progress and warned that he might conduct surprise inspections. This project aims to enhance water harvesting and groundwater levels by utilizing the tributaries of the Falgu River, which will help improve traditional irrigation systems in Jehanabad and nearby areas.
On the Tajpur-Bakhtiyarpur Greenfield Path, the Chief Secretary was pleased with the current progress. This 51.2 km road will connect Samastipur to Patna, cutting travel time between North and South Bihar by around two hours. It is expected to facilitate industrial development along the route and improve the transportation of agricultural products to Patna markets.
The Chief Secretary has directed all officials to resolve any issues related to land acquisition and necessary permits quickly. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring timely payments to farmers involved in these projects, underlining the need for better coordination between different departments.
