Bihar police have busted a cyber fraud gang and arrested two criminals involved in stealing over 3 lakh rupees from a victim’s bank account.
Bihar is facing a rise in criminal activities, and recently, the Bhojpur Police made a significant breakthrough in a cyber fraud case. On September 9, 2025, a local resident named Subodh Kumar reported that he lost a large sum of money after receiving a call from someone pretending to be an officer from the Election Department.
The criminals managed to withdraw a total of Rs 3,09,922 from Subodh’s bank account by tricking him into sharing an OTP. Following this complaint, the police took swift action by registering an FIR and launching a detailed investigation into the matter to track down the fraudsters.
During the investigation, police discovered that the fraudsters were using ported mobile numbers linked to bank accounts. They were withdrawing money using UPI at ATMs. The team, led by DSP Sneh Setu, utilized technical evidence and money trails to identify the culprits.
After thorough surveillance, two suspects named Vikas Kumar and Vishal Kumar were arrested in Nawada district. They confessed to using fake identities to call victims, posing as government officials, to execute their scheme.
The police are now looking into other members of the fraud gang to prevent further incidents. This case highlights the ongoing battle against cybercrime in Bihar and the efforts of law enforcement to safeguard the public.
