Train and Bus Services Boosted Ahead of Holi as Travelers Rush to Bihar from Major Cities

With Holi just around the corner, many people are heading back to Bihar. This has led to a huge rush for train tickets, especially from big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. From late February to early March, most trains are fully booked, and many have waiting lists exceeding 200 passengers.

The trains coming from Delhi to Patna and other Bihar cities are facing the worst situation. For instance, there are no tickets available on the Simanchal Express from February 26 to March 3. Similarly, the Howrah Duronto Express is booked solid from February 21 to March 3. Other trains like Shramjeevi Express and Vikramshila Express also have limited or no availability during this peak travel period.

For travelers, this means that getting a ticket on popular trains like the Rajendra Nagar Tejas Express or Purva Express is becoming increasingly difficult, with waiting lists soaring above 200. The Brahmaputra Mail is also heavily booked, making it tough for passengers hoping to secure a seat.

Passengers struggling to find train tickets still have the option of traveling by bus. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation has announced it will run over 200 special buses for Holi from February 15 to March 15. These buses will connect major cities like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand to Bihar.

Ticket bookings for these special buses started on February 1. The Bihar government is also under pressure to increase train services and add more coaches to accommodate the rising number of travelers. Those planning to travel before Holi are advised to book their tickets early to avoid last-minute hassles.
