Security authorities in Aden, Yemen reported a failed assassination attempt targeting Hamdi Shukri, a key military leader within the Giants Brigades. The incident, a car bombing, occurred in the Ja’oula area, north of Aden, as Shukri’s convoy passed through the area.

The explosion resulted in casualties. Two people were killed and five others were injured. Shukri, commander of the Second Brigade of the Giants Forces, was the intended target. The brigade is responsible for clearing Aden of armed camps and formations.

Ongoing Security Measures

The evacuation of armed camps in Aden has been underway. The Jabal Hadid camp was evacuated and handed over to the Facilities Protection Force as the first phase of a plan to end armed displays in Aden.

Security Designation Changes

Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, directed that the name of the “Security Belt Forces” and its affiliated units be changed to “National Security Forces.” This change aimed to unify security designations and strengthen the institutional framework of security services.
