A tragic accident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district where a military vehicle carrying soldiers plunged into a 400-foot deep gorge. Ten soldiers were martyred and 11 others sustained serious injuries in this incident. Four of the martyred soldiers belonged to the Bihar Regiment. The injured have been airlifted to a command hospital in Udhampur for better treatment. Initial investigations suggest that dense fog and slippery road conditions were the primary cause of the accident.

Details of the Accident and Rescue Operations

The incident took place around 7:10 AM on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road in Doda district, Jammu division. A team of soldiers was on an operation, traveling in two vehicles. Approximately one kilometer from the Khanni Top military post, while navigating a turn on a hill, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to fall into the deep gorge. Following the accident, soldiers from the accompanying vehicle, local residents, and military personnel from a nearby post immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.

Martyred Soldiers Include Those from Bihar Regiment

Among the 10 soldiers martyred in this unfortunate incident, four were from the Bihar Regiment: Naik Hare Ram Kunwar, Sepoy Simran Singh, Sepoy Pradyumn Lohar, and Sepoy Ajay Lakra. Additionally, four soldiers from the 72 Armored Regiment—Monu, Mohit (residents of Haryana), Sudhir Narwal, and Rinkil Baliyan—along with Daffadar Shailendra Singh Bhadauria and Sepoy Jobanpreet Singh from the 52 Armored Regiment, were also martyred.
