What’s inside:

The Patna Metro is set to begin operations soon, with safety checks completed and final preparations underway.

Patna residents, your wait for the Metro is nearly over! Recently, an inspection by the Electrical Inspector General found the power supply and technical systems of Patna Metro to be completely safe. This means that the hopes for starting metro services in February have grown quite a bit.

The inspection team, led by Jagdish Kumar, checked the Malahi Pakri sub-station and the overhead wires. They tested all the electronic systems like interlocking, earthing, relays, and signals. Thankfully, everything passed the safety standards, marking a big success for the metro project.

Right now, the focus is on finishing up the Priority Corridor, which includes five elevated stations. Three of them—New ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath—are ready. The civil work at Khemnichak and Malahi Pakdi stations is also done, and escalators are being installed fast to prepare for trial runs.

Officials believe that if everything goes as planned, we could see metro services starting from Malahi Pakdi to Bairia Bus Stand in February. The next big step is a final inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety. Once they give the go-ahead, commercial operations can begin.

Alongside the elevated route, work is also progressing on the underground tunnel between Patna Junction and Gandhi Maidan. This includes building the underground station near Patna Junction. With the metro launch, traffic jams in busy areas will be reduced, making travel quicker and helping to lower pollution levels.

Summary:

  • Patna Metro’s power supply has passed safety checks.

  • Inspection by Electrical Inspector General confirms readiness.

  • Focus is on completing the Priority Corridor stations.

  • Metro services might start from Malahi Pakdi in February.

  • Construction of underground routes is also in progress.
