A violent clash broke out in the Tatarpur area of Bhagalpur on Wednesday night, leaving an entire neighborhood in shock. Around 8:30 PM, a mob forcibly entered a house in Rikabganj Naya Tola and attacked the family members with sticks, rods, and bricks. Six people were seriously injured in this incident. The family was busy preparing for a wedding when the attack happened, turning a moment of celebration into chaos.

Why did the violent clash happen?
According to the victims, the trouble started due to a neighborhood dispute. A man identified as Anil was reportedly drunk and was shouting abuses outside the victim’s house. When the family members stepped out and asked him to stop the misbehavior, the situation escalated quickly.
Anil allegedly called a group of 14 to 15 people to the spot. The group entered the house and launched a coordinated attack on the family. They used heavy sticks and iron rods to beat everyone present. One of the victims, Murari Mandal, said he was at a temple for wedding rituals when he heard the news. When he rushed home to help, he was also brutally beaten by the mob.
List of injured victims and Police Action
The injured people were first taken to Sadar Hospital. However, doctors referred them to the Mayaganj Hospital (JLNMCH) because their head injuries were very deep and critical. The police have started raids in the Rekabganj area to catch the accused who ran away after the incident.
The victims identified in the police report are:
- Rajendra Mandal (Father)
- Vikas Mandal (Driver for Ishakchak Police vehicle)
- Murari Mandal
- Mukesh Mandal
- Ranju Devi
- Akash
Family members also stated that they tried to call the emergency helpline number 112 during the attack, but the call did not connect. The Tatarpur police have now registered a case and are investigating the matter under serious sections for rioting and causing grievous hurt.
