The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially announced a revised timeline for the much-awaited Danapur-Bihta elevated road project. The new target for completion is set for June 2027. Officials have confirmed that approximately 45% of the construction work is already complete. The project team is now accelerating efforts on the remaining portion to meet this new deadline.

Current Status and Work Progress

NHAI Project Director Arvind Kumar stated that work on the remaining 55% of the corridor is moving at a fast pace. Recent site inspections were conducted in the Danapur area to evaluate the progress of pillar erection and girder launching. To ensure the safety and quality of the construction, RITES is currently performing rigorous technical audits. The deadline was shifted from the original target of September 2026 to June 2027 following earlier delays in land transfer.

Project Features and Connectivity

This infrastructure project spans 25 km, featuring a significant 14 km continuous elevated section. It is being built as a four-lane facility with a width of 28 meters. One of the main benefits for commuters will be direct connectivity to the upcoming Bihta International Airport via a dedicated 600-meter tunnel at Kanhauli. The road also provides seamless access to major educational hubs like IIT Bihta and NIT Bihta. An eight-lane toll plaza and four dedicated ramps near Danapur station are included to manage traffic flow effectively.
