BJP MLA Sujit Kumar Paswan had a very narrow escape on Friday during a road accident on National Highway 22. The incident happened near Dhobgatti under the Kazipur police station area in Vaishali district. The MLA from Rajnagar, Madhubani was travelling to Patna to attend the budget session when his vehicle met with the accident.

How did the accident happen?
The accident took place on January 30, 2026. According to the reports, Sujit Paswan’s car was moving behind a pickup van on the highway. Suddenly, the driver of the pickup van applied emergency brakes without any warning.
Due to this sudden stop, the MLA’s driver could not control the speed in time, and the car crashed into the back of the pickup. The impact was quite strong, and the front portion of the MLA’s car was badly damaged in this collision.
Is everyone safe?
Fortunately, MLA Sujit Paswan and his security team are completely safe and did not suffer any injuries. There were a total of four people in the car along with the MLA. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries but is reported to be out of danger.
After the crash, the local police from Kazipur station reached the spot to manage the situation. Since the car was not in a condition to move, the MLA left for Patna in another vehicle to continue his journey for the assembly session.
Police investigation underway
The police have registered a case based on the statement given by security personnel Niranjan Kumar. They are currently looking for the pickup driver who fled the scene after the accident.
Officers are also checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the vehicle and the driver. The police are investigating if there was any violation of road safety rules that led to this dangerous situation on the highway.
