The budget session of the Bihar Legislature is starting today, February 2nd in Patna. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan is scheduled to address the joint sitting of both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council in the Central Hall. This session is very significant as the new NDA government will present its first full budget after the recent election victory. The session will continue until February 27th.

When will the Bihar Budget be presented?

Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav is set to present the state budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 tomorrow, February 3rd. This budget is expected to outline the roadmap for the state’s development. Before the budget presentation, the Economic Survey for 2025-26 will be tabled in the house today immediately after the Governor’s address.

What are the key dates for this session?

The session will consist of 19 sittings in total. The government is expected to reply to the debate on the Governor’s address on February 5th. The response to the budget discussions is scheduled for February 9th. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also expected to chair a meeting of the NDA legislative party to ensure coordination among all MLAs and MLCs.
