Bihar Allocates Rs 3.47 Lakh Crore for 2026-27 Budget, Prioritizing Education, Health, and Rural Development

The Bihar government has announced its budget for the financial year 2026-27, totaling Rs 3,47,589.76 crore. Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav shared this news in the Bihar Assembly, emphasizing that this budget shows the state’s commitment to growth and development. Bihar aims to be one of the fastest-growing states in India, with an expected economic growth rate of 14.9% in 2025-26.

One of the biggest highlights of this budget is the focus on education, with Rs 68,216 crore set aside for schools and higher education. The government believes that a strong education system is crucial for a developed Bihar. Steps are being taken to improve school infrastructure, ensure availability of teachers, and enhance student facilities.

Health services are also getting a significant boost, with Rs 21,270 crore allocated to ensure better healthcare access. The aim is to provide quality treatment and modern hospitals from villages to cities, promoting a healthier Bihar overall.

For rural development, Rs 23,701 crore has been allocated, along with Rs 18,716 crore for road construction. The Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana plans to build 3,000 kilometers of rural roads, improving connectivity for remote villages. This includes ongoing projects for constructing bridges to enhance transport.

Additionally, initiatives like the Bihar Agri Infrastructure Mission aim to invest in agriculture, while women’s empowerment programs are set to provide financial support to over 1 crore women. Overall, this budget reflects a balanced approach to development, social justice, and employment opportunities in Bihar.
