The All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) and AISA have officially launched the ‘Beti Bachao Nyay Yatra’ today in Jehanabad. This movement has been started to demand justice for an 18-year-old NEET aspirant who passed away under suspicious circumstances in Patna. The march began from the student’s ancestral village in the Makhdumpur area and moved towards the district headquarters. A massive public meeting was held at Arwal More where leaders addressed the crowd regarding women’s safety and police inaction.

What is the schedule for the Nyay Yatra?

The protest march started on February 4, 2026, and is planned to cover multiple districts across Bihar. After starting in Jehanabad, the yatra will travel through Arwal, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, and Nalanda before entering Patna. The organizers have confirmed that the movement will conclude on February 11, 2026. On this final day, thousands of students and activists plan to march towards the Bihar Vidhan Sabha to place their demands before the government.

Why are people protesting against the investigation?

The anger among students and locals increased after the release of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report. Initially, the police had denied any sexual assault, but the FSL report found traces of semen on the victim’s clothes and injuries on her body. This confirmed that the student was a victim of rape and murder. Although the Bihar government has recommended a CBI probe, the protesters are demanding an investigation monitored by a sitting Supreme Court judge. Leaders like Meena Tiwari and Dipankar Bhattacharya have stated that the movement will continue until strict action is taken against the culprits and the negligent officers.
