A senior official from the Railway Board visited Patna on Friday to check the progress of the Hardinge Park Terminal. Dr. Manoj Singh, who is the Additional Member for Marketing and Business Development, inspected the construction site and looked at the design and layout. He has ordered the officials to speed up the work immediately. The goal is to make sure the terminal is ready to handle the heavy rush of passengers in the future without any quality issues.

₹500 Crore Budget for Modern Terminal

The new terminal is being built with a budget of approximately ₹500 crore. It is designed to look like an airport and will have modern facilities for passengers. The official plan includes building 5 platforms and 5 new railway lines to manage train traffic better. The design ensures that passengers can easily reach the station from different parts of the city.

  • Direct Entry: The terminal will have a direct entry from the GPO–R Block flyover.
  • Metro Connection: A subway will connect the terminal to the Patna Metro and a multi-modal transport hub.
  • Target Date: While work is speeding up now, the full project is targeted to complete by 2029.

The Railway Board has approved an experimental stop for the Tata-Buxar Express at Anara station in Purulia, West Bengal. This new stop will start from February 10, 2026. This decision was taken to help local passengers who were demanding a stop here.

18184 To Tatanagar 02:37 PM 02:38 PM

Apart from this, the Thawe-Patliputra Intercity Express is resuming as a daily service. This will bring relief to passengers on the Thawe-Patna route. However, passengers on the Danapur-Vaishali route are still demanding the restart of MEMU special trains.
