Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar distributed appointment letters to 1,224 newly recruited doctors on Saturday. The event was held at the Urja Auditorium in Patna, where specialist and general medical officers gathered to receive their joining orders. The Chief Minister congratulated the new appointees and reminded them of their duty towards the common people. He stated that the government is working continuously to strengthen the health infrastructure of the state so that every citizen gets quality treatment.

What instructions were given to the new doctors?

The state government has taken a tough stand on the issue of private practice by government doctors. During the programme, strict instructions were given to ensure that doctors remain available in their assigned hospitals. Officials have been directed to conduct regular inspections to stop middlemen who divert patients to private clinics. The main goal is to improve services in rural areas so that patients do not have to travel to big cities for basic medical needs.

Who attended the event and what is the salary?

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Health Minister Mangal Pandey also attended the distribution ceremony. The recruitment covers various specialists like Anaesthesia, ENT, and Ophthalmology experts. According to official data for contractual specialist posts, the monthly pay usually ranges between ₹90,000 and ₹1,20,000. These doctors will now join Primary and Community Health Centers across different districts to fill vacant posts.
