A shocking incident took place in the Chowk police station area of Patna City, Bihar on Thursday morning. A 26-year-old man killed his own maternal uncle in broad daylight on a busy street. The entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed nearby, which helped the police identify the attacker. The police acted swiftly and arrested the accused shortly after the crime.
How did the attack happen on the street?
The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Mohammad Raees, who worked as a tailor. The incident occurred around 10:45 AM when Raees was walking towards his shop. His nephew, Mohammad Ayaz, was seen walking behind him in the CCTV footage.
After walking together for a few steps, Ayaz suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked his uncle on the neck. Even after the victim fell to the ground, the accused continued to attack him. Reports state that the nephew stabbed his uncle more than 10 times in just 23 seconds before fleeing the spot.
What was the reason behind the murder?
Police reached the spot immediately and sent the body to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) for post-mortem. With the help of the footage, they tracked down Mohammad Ayaz and arrested him within a few hours. The weapon used in the crime has also been recovered.
According to the initial investigation, the murder was the result of a family dispute. The accused told the police that his uncle used to harass his wife, which made him angry. The police are currently verifying these claims and continuing their investigation into the matter.
