The Bihar government has launched a strict crackdown on the misuse of ‘Bihar Government’ boards, red lights, and hooters on private vehicles. Transport Minister Shravan Kumar addressed the Legislative Council regarding this issue, stating that private cars are strictly prohibited from displaying official designations or departmental names. Strict Action Against Illegal Boards and Lights

According to the new directives, using private vehicles for commercial purposes or displaying “Bihar Sarkar” on personal cars is illegal. The use of sirens, hooters, and flashing lights is restricted to authorized emergency vehicles only. To enforce this, District Transport Officers have been checking vehicles in all districts. So far, more than 2,600 vehicle owners have been fined for violating these norms. Notices are being sent to those who continue to break the rules.

Updates on Buses and Special Schools

During the session, the government also shared updates on public transport and social welfare. New buses are being introduced on local and interstate routes, including services to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. If the purchase of government buses faces delays, the department will run buses under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure passengers do not face problems.

Social Welfare Minister Madan Sahni announced a major upgrade for special education. Schools for disabled children, which currently run up to class 8, will be upgraded to class 12 (Plus-Two). Additionally, the eligibility criteria for disability benefits have been eased, lowering the requirement from 60% to 40% so more people can get help.
