The long wait for a smooth ride on Ashok Rajpath is finally coming to an end. The confusion regarding the construction of the ramp near Patna Science College has been resolved. Now, the Metro Company will build this specific ramp instead of the bridge corporation. This decision ensures that the construction work for the underground metro station and the flyover ramp happens smoothly without causing extra delays for the public.

Why is the Metro Company building the flyover ramp?

The Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) requested the metro agency to take over this specific part of the project. The main reason is that the underground metro station and the flyover ramp are located in the exact same area. If two different agencies worked there separately, it would lead to digging up the road twice and wasting time.

To avoid technical issues and ensure the structure remains strong, the Metro Company has agreed to build the ramp’s foundation along with their ongoing station work. The bridge corporation will transfer the funds required for this work directly to the Metro Company. This coordination is expected to speed up the process significantly.

How will this benefit the common commuters?

Currently, the double-decker flyover is partially operational, but the missing ramp at Science College causes major traffic issues. People coming from Kargil Chowk cannot go straight to NIT Mor and are forced to exit at Patna University. Once this ramp is completed, the journey from Gandhi Maidan to NIT Mor will be seamless and will take only a few minutes.

In addition to the ramp work, the metro company has also started repairing the damaged service road near PMCH (from Pillar 24 to 40). This repair work is a big relief for ambulances and hospital visitors who were facing difficulties due to potholes and dust. The full underground Blue Line in this area is targeted for completion by late 2026.
