The Bihar Government has announced a significant update for the state police force regarding promotions. On February 14, 2026, the Home Department issued a notification promoting four senior officers from the Bihar Police Service. These officers have been upgraded from the rank of Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). This move is part of the administration’s effort to fill critical vacancies and improve regional coordination across the state.

Which officers received the promotion?
The list of promoted officers includes Krishna Murari Prasad, who has been serving as the SDPO (Law & Order) in Patna for the last two years. The other officers are Sanjeet Kumar Prabhat, Rajkumar Sah, and Sumit Kumar. All these officers are now entitled to the ASP-level pay scale and administrative powers.
Following the official notification, Krishna Murari Prasad and Sanjeet Kumar Prabhat visited the office of Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma. The SSP honored them by pinning the Ashoka Stambh badge on their uniforms, marking their official entry into the new rank. SSP Sharma noted that this promotion brings higher responsibility and an expectation of greater dedication to public service.
Changes in Patna Police Stations
Alongside the promotions at the senior level, the administration has also reorganized the leadership in some police stations within the Patna district. Sadanand Shah, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Fatuha, has been removed from his position.
Kumar Roshan has been appointed as the new SHO for Fatuha to manage the area. In other changes, Kamlesh Raj has taken charge as the SHO of Sultanganj, and Ravikant is now the in-charge of Gulzarbagh TOP. These postings are effective immediately and are intended to enhance crime control and public safety in the capital region.
