The mild winter days, often called ‘Pink Winter’, are officially over in Bihar. The state is now witnessing a steady rise in temperature as spring sets in. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather patterns have shifted significantly in the last 24 hours. Kaimur district recorded the highest temperature in the state, touching 31.1°C. Residents are now experiencing warmer days and the chill in the night air is rapidly decreasing.
How much will the temperature rise in the coming week?
The weather department has forecasted a completely dry and clear sky for the next seven days. There is no prediction of rain, which means the heat will continue to build up. Over the next five days, temperatures across most districts are expected to go up by another 5°C. Aurangabad has already seen a sharp jump in minimum temperature, reaching 17.6°C. While Kishanganj remains the coldest spot at 10.3°C, even there the weather is warming up. Major cities like Patna are likely to cross the 30°C mark consistently by the end of February.
What are the new updates for schools and farmers?
As of now, government schools are operating on the standard winter schedule from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The administration has not announced any changes yet. Historically, school timings shift to early morning slots of 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM only when the temperature crosses 40°C, which typically happens in April or May. Farmers growing Rabi crops like Wheat and Pulses have been advised to stay alert. The sudden rise in heat can cause stress to the crops, so experts recommend monitoring soil moisture closely. On the bright side, visibility has improved to over 1200 meters, ending fog-related delays for trains and road transport.
