A bizarre incident of food delivery service failure has surfaced in Patna involving Swiggy and a local resident. Lov Singh, a customer from RR Sanchar Nagar, placed an order for dinner at 7:47 PM on February 17, but the application marked the order as delivered the next morning at 5:35 AM. The customer has raised a serious complaint regarding this 10-hour delay and the insufficient compensation offered by the platform.

What are the details of this delivery incident?

The customer ordered Mushroom Chilli Gravy from ‘The Royal Jail Restro’ located in Saguna More, Patna. The total order value was ₹240 under Order No 230307420705103. While the user waited for the food on the night of February 17, the delivery status remained pending for hours.

The app eventually notified the user that the food was delivered at 5:35 AM on February 18. This timing raised serious questions as most restaurants in the city remain closed at that hour. Additionally, the customer verified that no delivery person made an entry at the housing society gate during those early morning hours, suggesting the delivery was marked complete without actual handover.

Is the compensation offered by the company fair?

After the customer reported the issue, the support team provided a coupon of ₹95. The user described this action as “looting” since the actual amount paid was ₹240 and the service was never provided. This partial refund policy has frustrated the customer who received neither the food nor a full refund for the failed service.

Consumer protection experts state that such incidents fall under deficiency of service. Recent data shows that District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions have fined delivery companies between ₹5,000 and ₹35,000 for similar unfair trade practices. Customers facing such issues are advised to file a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline number 1915 or use the e-Daakhil portal.
