A high-voltage drama unfolded in the Bankata Jagirdari village of Gopalganj district on Friday, drawing huge crowds and police attention. A young woman named Arpita Kumari climbed a high-tension mobile tower and refused to come down until the police released her lover, Pawan Chauhan. The local police had detained Pawan following a kidnapping complaint filed by the woman’s family, leading to this unusual protest by Arpita.

Why did Arpita climb the mobile tower?

Arpita and Pawan have reportedly been in a relationship for about seven years. The situation escalated after Arpita went missing from her home on Thursday night. Her father, Sanjay Gond, filed a formal complaint against Pawan Chauhan, accusing him of kidnapping his daughter. Pawan had recently returned home from working abroad.

Acting on the complaint, the Bhore Police took Pawan into custody. When Arpita learned about his arrest on Friday morning, she climbed the tower in protest. She declared that she would not step down unless Pawan was released from custody and their marriage was officially agreed upon by the families.

How did the police handle the situation?

The incident created a significant challenge for the local administration as a large crowd gathered to witness the scene. Police officials spent hours trying to persuade Arpita to descend safely, but she remained firm on her demands. The authorities prioritized her safety above all else.

In an unusual move to defuse the tension, the police brought Pawan Chauhan to the base of the tower in handcuffs so Arpita could see him. Police officials stated that their primary focus was to rescue the girl safely. They confirmed that the legal proceedings regarding the kidnapping case would be reviewed and mediated once the immediate danger was resolved.
