New Officer Rest House Inaugurated and Second Entry Work Reviewed
During the visit, DRM Ashish Jain inaugurated a newly constructed Officer Rest House located near the RRI panel. This new facility has been built to help officials better monitor the ongoing station projects. The DRM also took a detailed look at the construction work happening at the station’s second entry point. He gave strict instructions to the engineering team to speed up the work while ensuring that high-quality standards are maintained.
The officials discussed the technical aspects of the major redevelopment project, which was previously estimated at around ₹438 crore. The plan includes upgrading the station with modern amenities such as wider Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), improved drinking water facilities, and better lighting in the circulating areas. The DRM emphasized that all passenger amenity projects must be completed within the set timeline to avoid any inconvenience to the public.
Special Arrangements for Post-Holi Crowd Management
With a surge of passengers expected to return after the Holi festival, the railway administration is taking proactive steps. The DRM ordered the immediate setting up of dedicated Passenger Help Desks to assist travelers. Plans for a dedicated Holding Area within the station premises were also reviewed to manage the increasing footfall effectively and prevent overcrowding on the platforms.
Safety remains a top priority for the railways during this peak season. Ashish Jain inspected the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) panel and other safety equipment to ensure zero-error operations. He stated that no compromise would be made regarding operational safety or the quality of infrastructure. Railway authorities also highlighted the operation of special trains, such as those running from Chhapra to Anand Vihar Terminal, to handle the seasonal rush.
