Lakhisarai SP Private Car Hits Couple in Begusarai, Both Dead on the Spot

A tragic road accident occurred in Begusarai on Monday morning, March 23, 2026, when a car belonging to Lakhisarai SP Prerna Kumar hit a couple during their morning walk. The incident took place near the Shrinagar Dhala area under the Sahebpur Kamal Police Station limits. The victims, identified as Nathuni Yadav and his wife Indu Devi, died due to the impact of the speeding vehicle. The SP was not present in the car at the time of the collision, which was reportedly occupied by a driver and a bodyguard.

How did the accident happen and who was in the car

The accident took place around 6:00 AM when the couple, residents of Shrinagar village, were out for their daily exercise. A car with registration number BR01HS6374, which reportedly had a Police sticker on its windshield, hit them at high speed. While the SP stated the vehicle was on its way from Sahebpur Kamal to Lakhisarai, local residents claimed the rash driving led to the immediate death of both individuals. Following the crash, the driver and the bodyguard were apprehended by the local public at the scene and later handed over to the police authorities.

Public protest and official police action

The news of the death spread quickly, leading to a massive protest by the villagers. They blocked the road for nearly seven hours, causing a significant traffic jam on the highway. Police teams from multiple stations, led by the Ballia DSP and SHO Sintu Kumar, arrived at the spot to manage the situation. After several rounds of discussions and assurances of a fair investigation, the protestors lifted the blockade around 1:00 PM. The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver.
