Safety Guidelines for Farmers and the General Public

Meteorologist Sanjay Kumar from IMD Patna noted that this weather pattern is typical for the pre-monsoon season but can be damaging to crops like wheat and corn. To minimize losses and ensure personal safety, the authorities have released a set of specific instructions for the public to follow during these two days.

  • Protecting Crops: Farmers are advised to harvest ripe crops immediately and move them to safe, shaded storage areas to avoid damage from hail and rain.
  • Outdoor Safety: People should stay away from tall trees, electricity poles, and mobile towers during thunderstorms as these are prone to lightning strikes.
  • Shelter Precautions: Those living in temporary or kutcha houses are encouraged to seek shelter in permanent structures.
  • Electronic Usage: It is recommended to stay indoors and avoid using electronic devices when lightning and thunder are active.
  • Wind Hazards: Avoid standing near hoardings or weak structures during high-velocity winds.
