Patna Airport is implementing a new plan to make travel smoother for its passengers. Three aircraft parking bays are being shifted near the new terminal building to ensure that aerobridges can be used more effectively. This change is expected to reduce the time passengers spend walking on the tarmac and will provide a more comfortable boarding experience. The airport has already seen a massive upgrade with the new terminal becoming fully operational for the public.

Facilities Available at the New Terminal

The new terminal building at Jayprakash Narayan International Airport covers an area of 65,155 square meters and was built at a cost of approximately 1,200 crore rupees. It is designed to handle between 8 to 10 million passengers every year, which is a major jump from its previous capacity. To handle the rush, the following facilities have been added:

  • Check-in Counters: There are 54 to 64 check-in counters including self-service kiosks
  • Baggage Scanners: 8 to 16 X-ray scanners are installed for faster security checks
  • Aerobridges: Total five aerobridges are currently available with more planned by January 2026
  • Lounge Services: Two executive lounges are expected to open by Diwali 2025

Updates on Parking and Flight Operations

A multi-level car parking facility is now operational with a capacity for 750 to 1,100 vehicles. This parking area is connected to the main terminal via a 150-meter long travellator to help passengers carry their luggage easily. The airport has also expanded its apron capacity from 6 to 11 parking bays. These improvements are part of a larger plan that includes starting international flights to cities like Kathmandu, Bangkok, and Singapore in the coming months. Full night operations have also commenced as part of the new flight schedule.
