How did the fire spread in Hatna village?

The fire started in the afternoon and quickly took a massive form due to the high speed of the westerly winds. Local villagers immediately gathered at the spot and tried to douse the flames using available resources, but the fire was too intense to be controlled manually. The dry wheat crop and the wind speed caused the flames to jump from one field to another within minutes.

Loss to small farmers and fire brigade action

The fire brigade was called to the scene and after several hours of hard work, the team managed to put out the fire. Many small and marginal farmers are severely affected as their entire season’s harvest has been turned to ashes. The local administration is yet to release an official statement regarding the compensation for the affected families.
