The work is currently concentrated on the route from Gaushala Road to Mithanpura. Local authorities have directed contractors to work on a war footing to ensure timely completion of the project and provide a more convenient fuel source for households.

The district administration has set a clear target for contractors to provide at least 100 new connections daily. This push comes after a review by the district in-charge secretary to accelerate the transition to natural gas. The current infrastructure data shows significant progress in the city gas distribution project led by IOCL.

Long-term Goal 50,000 Households

New Policy Guidelines for PNG Distribution

The Central Government notified the Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Distribution Order 2026 to streamline the installation process. Municipal bodies are now required to provide permissions for pipeline work within 24 hours. This policy allows companies to work around the clock and be allocated land at nominal rates to meet the growing demand for cleaner fuel in areas like Bela and Mithanpura.
