AIIMS Phulwari Sharif in Patna conducted a major mock drill to test its disaster management capabilities on April 7, 2026. During this exercise, doctors and nurses demonstrated how the hospital can handle mass casualties and emergency situations with high efficiency. The drill focused on the rapid deployment of medical resources to ensure that patients receive immediate care during any real-life disaster.

How was the Modular Emergency System used?

The hospital utilized a specialized Modular Emergency System that allows for quick setup of treatment areas. This system is designed to handle a sudden influx of patients during emergencies. The administration showcased the ability to make the hospital functional within a window of 12 to 45 minutes. This technology ensures that no time is wasted when lives are at stake during a crisis.

Key features of the disaster preparedness drill

  • A total of 72 RFID units were used to manage operations and track patients efficiently
  • The drill involved coordinated action between master trainers, doctors, and nursing staff
  • Seriously ill patients were referred to specialized units as part of the simulation exercise
  • The setup used BHISMCUBE technology to create functional emergency cubes rapidly

This initiative is part of a larger capacity-building program funded by the Disaster Management Cell of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. AIIMS Patna continues to strengthen its response system to provide essential health services even during extreme situations.
