Bajaj Chetak EV’s Success in the Indian Market

Bajaj Chetak Electric has successfully made earnings in the Indian market for a full four years. Initially, its sales continued among enterprises, but now its sales shares are available. From January 2020 to March 2021, the company successfully sold 1,587 units and a total of 8,187 units in FY22. The following year saw a growth of 31,485 units, which was a 284% increase on the base. Furthermore, 75,999 units of Chetak EV were sold in FY2024 (April 2023 to December 2023), which is its highest sales to date. This brings the total sales of Chetak EV to 1,17,208 units.

January 2024 Sales and Future Goals

In January 2024, Chetak Electric saw an increase of more than 11,000. The company has set a target of achieving 15,000 units in monthly sales. Factors such as price discounts, appreciation of the new model, and better stock availability have contributed to the increase in sales. According to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), Bajaj Auto has increased its market share from 5% in 2022-23 to 10% by the end of 2023.

Updated Chetak Premium Version

In January 2024, Bajaj launched the updated Chetak premium version, priced at ₹1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This is ₹15,000 more expensive than your first model. Significant changes have been made to its battery, now it is given a new 3.2kWh pack, which gives a ARAI-certified modular range of 127km. The battery can be fully charged in 4 hours 30 minutes.

Future Plans for Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto has confirmed plans for two to three updates for the electric scooter by May 2024. Moreover, the company is ready to introduce its large Pulsar (400cc) in the first quarter of next year. Bajaj is also working on a C Energy bike, which is expected to be launched by the end of this year.
