In today’s time, smartphones are highly valuable to people. If a smartphone is lost, it can cause distress because personal details can fall into the wrong hands, leading to incidents such as banking fraud. In such cases, it is important to keep a few things in mind to help users retrieve their lost smartphones with the assistance of the government.
The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) website has been introduced by the central government to register details of stolen mobile phones. Users can submit the details of their stolen mobile phones on this website. Once the details are registered, the search for the stolen mobile phone begins. The website also allows users to block the stolen phone, preventing it from being used by someone else. Additionally, users can obtain information about the phone.
How to track a stolen mobile phone?
If your smartphone is lost, the first step is to file an FIR. Then, visit the CEIR website. On the website, you will see three options: Block/Lost Mobile, Check Request Status, and Unblock Found Mobile. To block the stolen mobile phone, click on Block/Lost Mobile. Enter the IMEI number and the brand of the smartphone. Provide information about the location where the phone was lost and personal details. Then, enter the registered mobile number and OTP. This will initiate the search for your stolen mobile phone.
