Tata Motors to Introduce Automatic Gearbox Option in CNG Cars

Tata Motors has decided to offer an automatic gearbox option in their upcoming cars that will have a CNG engine. This move comes after the company’s successful launch of petrol and electric automatic cars. Tata Motors will soon be introducing automatic options in two of their CNG cars, specifically the Tiago and Tigor CNG models. This will provide customers with new variants of Tiago and Tigor CNG cars.

First of Its Kind in India

This will be the first car in India to offer an automatic transmission option for a CNG variant. The car will have the same AMT units that work on the petrol-driven versions, meaning the higher XT and XZ+ types will also be offered with this feature. This is a significant step in the Indian automotive industry, providing customers with more convenience and options.

New Features and Changes in Tiago and Tigor CNG Cars

There is a possibility of several changes being made in the new Tiago and Tigor CNG cars. The cars may see many cosmetic changes, including new front and rear bumpers, a new air dam, fog lights, black ORVM, and 15-inch dual alloy wheels. Additionally, the interior of the car will likely remain constant, featuring a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, a stylish flat-bottom steering wheel, an engine start-stop button, and a cooled glove box.

Engine Specifications

The Tiago and Tigor CNG cars will feature a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine, capable of generating 85 bhp power and 113 Nm torque. This engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. This is the first time customers will have the option of an automatic CNG variant in a CNG car. Tata will soon be offering this option in their hatchback CNG car, allowing customers to easily drive these two cars in traffic.
