Hero MotoCorp Preparing To Launch Electric Two-Wheelers
India’s Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch its electric two-wheeler, which will include two electric scooters and one electric motorcycle. The announcement was made by Hero MotoCorp’s CEO Niranjan Gupta at the Hero World 2024 event, where he also unveiled two new motorcycles. This follows Hero MotoCorp’s recent showcase of its new Vida electric dart bike concept at EICMA, with the company now preparing to launch three new two-wheelers by 2025.
Details of the Upcoming Models
Hero MotoCorp stated that among the three upcoming models, two will be electric scooters and one will be an electric motorcycle. The forthcoming electric scooter will be launched in the mid-segment. The announcement was made at the Hero World 2024 event held in Jaipur on 23rd January. At the event, Hero MotoCorp’s CEO Niranjan Gupta revealed the two-wheeler manufacturer’s electric vehicle plans for India for the next year.
Expansion of Vida Range
The company will expand its Vida range by launching electric scooters in the mid-range and economy segments in the fiscal year 2025, according to CEO Niranjan Gupta. The company will also launch another electric two-wheeler in the B2B last-mile delivery segment. Vida is part of Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle wing, which sells its lineup of electric scooters like the V1 in India. Vida has expanded its reach to 100 cities in India and plans to extend it to 100 more cities next year.
Partnership with Zero Motorcycles
The company also disclosed that it is planning to work with US-based company Zero Motorcycles to introduce a co-developed electric motorcycle, which could take some time. Gupta also mentioned that electric motorcycles are still quite expensive for the Indian market and there are no discussions about when the motorcycle will be launched. Hero MotoCorp and Zero Motorcycles partnered in 2022, which will aid in the development of powertrains and electric motorcycles, considering Hero MotoCorp’s manufacturing, sourcing, and marketing.
