Maruti Suzuki’s Upcoming 7-Seater and Mini MPV

Maruti’s 7-Seater SUV
Maruti’s new 7-seater SUV is being developed under the codename Y17. This SUV will be based on the platform of the Grand Vitara, which is based on Suzuki’s global C architecture. According to media reports, production of this model could begin in the company’s Gurugram plant in 2025. It is expected that most of the design elements, features, and components will be kept similar to its 5-seater model.
There could also be some cosmetic changes. Its powertrain could be borrowed from the Grand Vitara. It could get a 1.5-liter K15C petrol mild hybrid and a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle strong hybrid engine options, which will sequentially generate power of 103 bhp and 115 bhp.
New Maruti Mini MPV
Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch an entry-level mini MPV in the budget segment to compete with the Renault Triber. Based on the Suzuki Spacia available in the Japanese market, this model is expected to be launched in India in 2026. Maruti’s new mini MPV (codenamed YDB) could be slightly different in size and design from the Spacia sold in Japan.
It is expected to have a 3-row seat layout and sliding doors. It could be powered by the brand’s new Z-series 1.2-liter petrol engine. Some reports have claimed that the mini MPV could be launched in India at a price of Rs 6 lakh.
