Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric Car Expected Launch in 2024-2025
Maruti Suzuki, India’s biggest car manufacturer, is working on its first electric SUV, which is expected to be launched in the fiscal year 2024-2025. The concept model of the electric SUV has been named eVX and is currently in the testing phase. The car, which has been showcased multiple times, is being produced at Maruti Suzuki’s facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat.
Suzuki Motor Corporation Signed Memorandum with Gujarat Government
In March 2022, Suzuki Motor Corporation signed a memorandum with the Gujarat government regarding this electric car project. As per the agreement, the company is investing INR 3,100 crore in its Hansalpur plant for the production of the electric car. While the exact details about the electric car have not been revealed, several structures of the Maruti electric car have been leaked.
Features of Maruti Suzuki’s Electric Car
The company claims that the electric car will come with high scooters and will feature a 60kWh battery pack. According to the principles, this electric car can travel up to 550 kilometers on a full charge. The car is being prepared on a new platform. The length of the Maruti eVX SUV will be 4.3 meters, which was the same size as the concept model. The concept model had a width of 1.8 meters, a laptop of 1.6 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.7 meters.
Competition and Production
After its launch in India, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will compete with the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai’s electric Creta. Recently, Maruti Suzuki has produced three million cars at its SMG plant. This plant, which costs 7.5 lakh per year, offers manufacturing facilities for Desire, Swift, Tour S, Baleno, and Franks.
