India Ranks 6th in the World for Two-Wheeler Ownership: Survey
A recent survey reveals that nearly half of the households in India own a two-wheeler, making it the 6th country with the highest number of two-wheelers in the world. The World of Statistics shared this information on their Twitter handle. Thailand holds the top position with 87% of households owning a two-wheeler.
Other countries on the list include Vietnam with 86%, Indonesia with 85%, and Malaysia with 83% of households owning a two-wheeler. China ranks 5th with 60%, followed by India at 47% and Pakistan at 43%. The remaining three countries, Nigeria, Philippines, and Brazil, have 35%, 32%, and 29% of households owning a bike or scooter, respectively.
The Indian two-wheeler market is quite large, ranging from the affordable TVS XL100 moped priced at INR 44,999 to the limited edition Ducati Superleggera V4 sport bike priced over INR 1 crore. In addition to motorcycles, commuter bikes and scooters are also available in the market. Recently, there has been a significant increase in demand for premium models in the domestic market, including electric scooters priced over INR 1 lakh and motorcycles ranging from 300-400cc.
