Testing prototype of Tata Punch Electric spotted at a charging station and is expected to launch around the 2023 festive season. The Tata Punch EV can be seen with a front charging socket unlike the side placement on the current electric line-up. The exterior design will be similar to the regular Punch, but with blue highlights to give it an electric character. It may also have a new set of EV-specific alloy wheels. The interiors will have the same features as the regular ICE version, but with some additional features such as an updated 10.25-inch infotainment system and a new two-spoke steering wheel. The testing prototype was also seen with all four disc brakes.
Tata’s Gen 2 Sigma architecture will be used for the Punch Electric, which will be the first EV in the lineup. It will use a battery pack with a capacity of around 30kWh, providing a range of around 300 km. There may also be a base spec version available. The Tata Punch Electric is expected to be launched this year, possibly during the festive season. It will compete with cars like the Citroën eC3 and may impact the sales of the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV.
Tata Motors will also be launching the Tata Nexon facelift and the Nexon Electric facelift in India next month. The updated Harrier and Safari are also expected to be launched before the end of this year.
