Volvo India’s Commitment to Boost Electric Car Usage
Volvo Cars India, the premium car manufacturer, had previously promised to play a significant role in increasing the use of electric cars in India. The company has now taken several new steps to fulfill this promise. Volvo Cars India has not increased the prices of electric cars sold in India, despite announcing a 2% increase in the prices of its engine-powered cars. The company sells two EV models in India ★the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.
Prices of Volvo Electric and ICE Models
The current prices of the Volvo Recharge and Volvo C40 Recharge are respectively INR 57,90,000 and INR 62,95,000 (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the new prices of the XC60, S90, and XC90, which are sold as ICE models, are INR 68,90,000, INR 68,25,000, and INR 1,00,89,000 (ex-showroom) respectively. The XC40 Recharge is the most in-demand electric model, with a total of 580 units sold so far.
Launch and Sales of Volvo Cars in India
It may be recalled that within just two hours of the start of bookings for the XC40 Recharge in July, 150 units were booked. The C40 Recharge was launched in the Indian market in September last year. So far, Volvo has sold 180 of its models in India. From the beginning of the new year 2024, Volvo has increased the prices of most petrol-diesel cars.
Volvo’s Focus on Electric Luxury Cars
“We are now focusing more on electric luxury cars for the long term. We have pledged to become a fully electric company by 2030. We will continue to encourage the purchase of electric cars. Despite inflation and increasing production costs, we have decided not to change the price of our EV models,” the company stated.
